Do Bees Enjoy the Flower?

We often use the expression “busy as a bee” as a compliment. Don’t get me wrong. I think bees are great. Their pollination of flowers adds beauty and color to our world. Bee survival provides an important marker of the health of the planet.

I wonder, though, in their busy-ness, do bees actually take time to enjoy their activities?

Until bees let me interview them, I won’t know for sure.

If you asked me, I’d say I’ve got too much to do and too little time. I flog myself for not checking off enough boxes on my “To Do” list as I develop the seven-step system for helping an open-minded woman get unstuck, embrace her most playful self (which I call the “Inner Minx”) and fully enjoy her body.

The other day when I planned to work like a bee, I took time instead to feel the breeze on my skin, listen to the sound of the pool’s waterfall, watch the bees and breathe.

I returned to my work with renewed energy and creativity. I know that taking a break works. It’s still challenging to make myself slow down.

How do you know when you need to slow down, even stop, to smell the roses? Notice if your creativity or productivity improves when you do.
